Love is Love

Title: Love is Love
Chapter: 2 The Apology
Warnings: Kind of end of anime spoilery...
Rating: PG13 I guess? Mild language, some gore later on, and possibly... poooossibly Hentai if I ever get the guts to write it... or con persuade someone else into writing it for me.
Type of Fic: A Looove Story~
Pairing: AlxScieszka
Notes: I don't own FMA. This is derived from RP chats done with various members of the Fullmetal Folly RPG, where I play Al. I had the wonderful task of converting crack into fic. Woot.

Al wasn’t quite sure why he woke up on the floor… but his head sure hurt. Sitting up, the living room had evidence of the night before. There were coasters out, some plates and glasses, and the cushions on the couch were pulled out a little further than they should have been. However, it seemed like Al was the last one to get up. No one else was left in the room. Glancing out the window, Al could see that the sun was already well above Resenbool. Finally, he got up. Even checking the kitchen revealed that Pinako was no longer there. A bit unnerved at the quiet of the house, Al opened the door so he could walk outside and get some fresh air to relieve his throbbing cranium. However, the fact that he nearly tripped over his brother sitting on the steps quickly changed his plans. He quickly sat next to Ed and greeted him cheerily despite his complaining cranium.

“Brother! What are you doing here?”

“Waiting for you.” Al looked at Ed for a few seconds confused.

“Huh?”

“You drank last night.”

“Uhh…” Al struggled to recall the beginning of the night. “Yeah.”

“Wine.”

“Only a glass.” Suddenly there were four automail fingers shoved in Al’s face… Ed still hadn’t looked Al in the eyes yet. Al knew that he was in trouble. “Four?”

“You’re underage.”

“T…they offered. We were all amongst friends, so I figured it would be…”

“You should have known better.”

“But… wait… It’s not like I did anything bad right?” Ed finally turned to look at Al. His face had an appearance of mild disbelief.

“Granny Pinako and I found you cuddling with Scieszka.” This newfound discovery certainly brought color to Al’s face.

“I… I what??” Al was waiting for the point where Ed told him this was a /big/ joke…

“And Josh told me that you kissed her on the lips… and poked her in the chest.” Al’s eyes couldn’t get any wider nor his face any redder. After a few moments of observing his little brother’s shocked condition, Ed continued. “You should…”

“I got to go apologize right away!!” Al got about ten feet before Ed called out to him.

“Al!”

“What?!”

“/Where/ exactly are you going?”

“Uhhh…”

“That’s what I thought.” Ed picked two pieces of paper out of his pocket and waved them above his head. “A ticket to Central and directions to her house. I’ll kick your ass later.”

“Umm...” Al had gotten as far as making it all the way to Central on his own on the train, making his way to Scieszka’s house, standing on the doorstep, and knocking on her door. Of course, now that she actually opened the door and was standing in front of him… Al hadn’t a clue what to do next.

“Hey!” She greeted Al happily. Seeing him staring at her wordlessly soon caused her to look at him with confusion. Finally, Al mustered the courage to speak.

“A... about last night...”

“Y…yes?” She looked at him with wide eyed surprise as he suddenly bowed his head in shame.

“I'm sorry for being rude!” Scieszka stared at him in surprise for a little longer, then sidled over and patted him on the head.

“You have nothing to apologize for!”

“A...according to Ed I did a few rude things...” Al still couldn’t look her in the eyes.

“Rude...?” Scieszka said thoughtfully. After a few seconds a blush came to her face. “Whatever you did didn't offend me.”

“Ah... can you remember it? Well? Or uh...” Scieszka waved her hands fantically.

“It was nothing!”

“Oh... umm... okay...” Al again strained his mind to remember something. The feeling of soft, willing lips agaist his was like a fuzzy dream… he wasn’t sure if he actually remembered it or if it was something his mind fabricated to go along with what his brother had told him.

Meanwhile Scieszka had been looking at Al puzzled. Al finally realized this and quizzically returned the gaze.

“Alphonse, did you come all this way just to apologize?”

“Aah.... Yes.” Scieszka tilted her head to the side as she studied Al.

“You really don't remember any of what happened?”

“Ah... not after I got off the couch... Ed told me some things Pinako told him...”

“ Like what?” She innocently asked. This, of course, let Al to stare at her with a wide eyed expression as color began to brush his cheeks.

“I... umm...” Al started. Scieszka waited patiently for the answer for a moment, then prodded Alphonse further.

“You what?” Once again Al studied the stone of Scieszka’s front steps.

“That I was... um... laying on you at the end of the night.... and stuff...”

“You were!” Scieszka said a bit too cheerily. Al looked at her, once again, confused. “I mean... that's not a problem. I really enjoyed it!” Suddenly Scieszka was the one looking uncomfortable. “Um... that is...”

“Bu.. Ah.. ? Wh... did I really...” Al couldn’t seem to manage to make his brain finish any thoughts. Scieszka reassured him with a cheerful smile.

“Don't worry about it. It's not like it would ever happen ordinarily or anything. Besides, it's not like you were particularly difficult to deal with. Your hair smells really nice and... and...” Scieszka was once again on one of her patented awkward babbles…

“Bu.. Bu.. Bu... Did I really kiss you?” Al realized that he just kind of splurted it out. He stared wide eyed at the welcome mat of her house as his face attained a new record high color of red. Scieszka covered her mouth and shuffled backwards into the house a step or two.

/That’s it…. I ruined everything… she’s going to hate me forever now…/

Finally Scieszka looked back up at Al. Her cheeks were a cute shade of rosey pink.

“I...” Al raised his head, preparing for his doom. “…suppose so.” She smiled pleasantly at Al.

“Ah.. well... um...” The only thing Al could manage to do was rub his arm nervously. Scieszka seemed a bit embarrassed, but smiled anyway.
“Well, I understand that you weren't really feeling yourself. I just hope it doesn't gross you out too much.”

“I.. it's not bad... I mean… Aah...”

“Oh... Wait. Really?”

“N... Not bad...” Al managed, his ears a firey shade of red. Scieszka forced a bit of a laugh.

“Oh, you're just saying that because you don't remember it.”

“Da... Um... What I'm tryin to say is....” Al concentrated on the stack of books directly behind Scieszka. “It's not a /bad/ thing that we did... kiss.” Al moves his concentration to his shoelaces. Scieszka again looked at him puzzled.

“You're not angry about it then?” Suddenly she was all smiles again. “Well, that's a relief! I thought you wouldn't want to be anywhere near me.”

“O.. oh... so... um... You forgive me?” Scheiszka took a few steps forward again and lightly touched Al’s shoulder.

“Al-kun, I already said that I liked it!” She froze in place… Al looked up into her eyes hopeful and vunerable.

“Really?” She nodded emphatically back at him.

“Really.”

“So....” Al searched for the right thing to say next.

/Don't wanna sound like a perv... don't want to sound like Roy... don't want to stumble like Ed.../

“So...?” Scieszka pressed.

“Want to do... something?”

/Something?! Something?! Gawd I sounded so stupid!!! Some white night on a stallion I am.../

“L-Like what?” Scieszka stammered.

“Umm… Aah... Organize books?”

/Good save?? Let it be a good save.../
“Really?” Scieszka positively glowed with happiness. “No one's ever offered to do that with me before!”

“Well.. ah.. Can I be the first? To help?”

“Sure.” Al wasn’t sure if she’s ever stop smiling. “But... Al-kun... you know, that might not be all that interesting to you. Um... I don't make a lot of money, but we could... go somewhere else instead.” She waved her arms and finished hurriedly, “But only if you want to of course.”

“Ah!! That would be nice! And we could work on the books afterwards. I'm good at organizing things.”

“We could go eat something, if you like,” Scieszka offered with a nod.

“Ahh.. I can eat just about anything... so you can choose.” Scieszka paused to consider this…

“But what if you don't like it?!” Al looked at her with a bit of disbelief. Something inedible to an Elric? Impossible. Well, milk was the exception.

“Look, if you find something I won't eat, I'll transmute my socks into bread. And eat them.”

“But... but they're not really made of the same kind of matter, are they?”

“Sort of... the fibers of cotton and wheat have some similarities...”

“But I can't let you do that!” She looked around frantically, as if expecting food to pop out of the air. Al looked at her in disbelief. For reading so much, she didn’t seem to know much about the basics of alchemy…

“Haven't you ever read any alchemy books?”

“Oh, I have, but...” She said while scratching her head, embarrassed. “I'm just good at memorizing things. I don't necessarily understand everything I read.”

“Oh... well after everything's said and done the bread will be molecularly identical to normal bread.”

“But, she wrinkled her nose slightly, “we'd still know that they used to be your socks! I may not be able to use alchemy, but I can cook!” She latched onto Al’s arm, half pulling him into the house. “What do you like? I'll make you something.”

“Really? Ahh.. stew... ramen... spaghetti.... curry... lentil soup... hamburgers, hotdogs....” Scieszka clapped excitedly.

“Oh, curry, that's perfect!” She leaned toward him and whispered, as if it was a dearly held secret, “You can put anything in curry.” Al immediately began to laugh.

“It's the only reason Ed can make it!” Soon they were laughing together again.

“Just wait a moment, I'll go make some!” She was already five steps into her house.

“S… should I come in?”

“Oh!” She raced back to the door and grabbed onto Al’s wrist.

“Alphonse, what are you doing outside?!”

“Ah...” Al started, but he was already being drawn inwards.

“Come in!” Al lets himself be dragged into the house, and manages to reach around and close the door as he is being led toward the kitchen… nearly bumping into four bookstacks on the way there.

“Mmmm.... We might want to start with buying some wood so I can make shelves...” Al pondered out loud as he sat himself down. “We can put them on rollers to maximize space... You'll only be able to get to one row at a time though....”

And so, Al and Scieszka ate curry with who-knows-what in it, and Scieszka finally saw her floor in the first time in years…

aww, that was really sweet! If I was Al, I'd be thanking Ed for sending me to Schiezka's house.

*laughs* It's still coming!

Oh! Just a reminder: when someone takes action, it goes next to whatever they say.

*grins* And you can spell Scieszka. I'm so proud.

Keep going!
